LOVE LOST TO DUTY (BALLAD)

there once stood a knight so tall,
with his sword and shining armour.
but a lady's voice made him fall
it made his cold night warmer.
Quiet woods and moonlit skies
Drugged the knight with love.
A lady by the riverside,
To resist, was so tough.
He hid behind a tree listening,
With his heart thumping fast.
Her eyes in the dark, glistening,
On the knight, a spell was cast.
He went up to her and smiled.
moving the hair from her face.
This made her heart run wild
and give him a warm embrace.
Hailing from kingdoms two,
love binding them one,
the struggle to meet, so true
but with love were they won.
News came in, peace ran out
Leaving the knight shocked.
Love buried; war broke out
As their eyes interlocked.
a dual 'tween the knight & king
All she could do was watch.
She opened her mouth to sing
As their strikes, they dodged.
The knight's attention caught
By the familiar symphony.
The father king struck him hard.
The Knight fell to his knees.
He looked into her eyes
Glanced at her beauty.
Eyes with no light
Love lost to duty.
There once stood a knight so tall,
With his sword and shining armour.
But a lady's voice made him fall
Making his brave noise calmer.
